I textured, coloured and lit the kitchen scene for this advert. The brief was to create an 'Oxo family 70's kitchen'. For the wood textures I scanned in four 8 foot long strips of veneer which gave us enough full scale texture so as not to repeat too much. Rendering was with Brazil.
These textures ended up at 7000 pixels across after lengths of pine veneer were scanned in on an A3 scanner and joined up in photoshop. If you want a decent 'to scale' wood texture that isn't going to tile everywhere, this is the best way to achieve it. I was quite surprised to find pine veneer though.
